Not being able to sleep. Not being able to drive. Not being able to move without pain. Ariana describes that period in one short sentence: “my life became constant pain”.
The diagnosis was a herniated disc between L5 and S1, the lowest space in the lumbar spine and the one that bears the most load. When the disc compresses the nerve root that exits there, the pain stops being just back pain and travels down the leg, and everyday things — sitting behind the wheel, turning over in bed — become the problem.
Physiotherapist Alfredo Olivera prescribed a treatment based on the Diamagnetic Pump and physiotherapy. Five months later, in her words: “I am at 100%, I am running again, exercising.”
Five months, and that is the important part
There is a lot of talk about fast results, so it is worth pausing here: Ariana’s case was not resolved in three weeks. It took five months of steady treatment before she was running again.
A herniated disc that has reached the point of preventing sleep and driving indicates significant compression, and nerve tissue has its own recovery times, which cannot be hurried at will. Promising otherwise would be selling smoke.
Why the Diamagnetic Pump and physiotherapy together
The Diamagnetic Pump acts on the inflammation around the compressed nerve root, which is the immediate source of the radiating pain. Bringing that inflammation down is what opens the door to the next stage.
Because the disc does not reposition itself: the muscles that stabilise the lower back have to be rebuilt and movement has to be relearned, and that is the work of physiotherapy and of time. Running again is not the starting point, it is the end of a process.
Have you had a herniated disc for months?
If you have a diagnosed herniated disc and the pain is limiting your daily life, the first step is understanding your particular case: which level is affected, how much compression there is and what real margin exists. At Clínica Capón we assess that before proposing any treatment.
