Knee osteoarthritis: why Julia’s case needed four treatments at once

Nine MBST sessions. Twelve of Diamagnetic Pump. Thirteen of physiotherapy. And a pair of insoles. That was Julia’s complete treatment for knee osteoarthritis, and it explains rather well why no single machine solves everything.

Julia came to Clínica Capón with severe knee pain caused by osteoarthritis. It is not a problem that appears overnight: cartilage wears down gradually, the joint loses its cushioning, and pain ends up dictating things as basic as going down stairs or getting up from a chair.

After completing the treatment, this is how she sums it up: “I have done 9 MBST sessions, 12 Diamagnetic Pump, 13 physiotherapy and some insoles. I have improved enormously. Very grateful.”

Why one thing alone was not enough

Each part of the treatment did a different job. MBST therapy targets the cartilage, aiming to stimulate the tissue rather than merely settling the symptom. The Diamagnetic Pump works on inflammation and pain, which is what prevents normal movement while the cartilage responds. Physiotherapy rebuilds the strength and control of the muscles around the knee, without which any improvement is lost within weeks.

And the insoles address something often overlooked: how the foot lands determines how the knee is loaded. If the gait keeps distributing weight poorly, the joint suffers again even when the treatment has gone well.

Thirty-four sessions is not a shortcut

It is worth saying plainly: Julia’s treatment was thirty-four sessions spread over months. It is not a promise of quick relief, and not every case needs that volume — it depends on the degree of osteoarthritis, the joint involved and the person.

What her case does show is the approach: in established osteoarthritis, tackling only the pain leaves the problem where it was, and tackling only the cartilage without correcting the load does not sustain the improvement either.
